I just signed up. I own and have owned many Rugers; rifles, semi-autos and revolvers. Generally, I have been very pleased with their reliability and accuracy. I took delivery of a Security-9 last week and went to the range yesterday. The manuals for each pistol explain the proper engagement of the safety. Reading the manual carefully is always advised when first owning ANY gun.

May 7, 2019 · My Security 9 has had four FTEs across approximately 310 rounds since new. The first two were classic stovepipes and easily cleared. The last two were very odd in that the spent casing stayed in the barrel’s chamber requiring me to use a small wooden dowel to pry the casing out; not good for a home defense/carry gun! One potentially useful thing about the Security-380 (if you're a reloader) is that the mag well will also accept Security-9 mags. At the range, first ten rounds I put through my S9, the firing pin punches through a primer, and the little brass bits it ejected fouled it immobile. There was nothing I could do to convince it to fire after that. Couldn't find a peep online with a failure to fire on an S9, so it looked like ti was going back to Ruger.

Jan 21, 2018 · I ended up getting a Ruger Security-9 to go with my PC Carbine. Took it out yesterday and after 2 mags I starting having problems! 1. Last round hold back would not work on 1 of the mags, not that big of a deal. 2. When slide is locked to the back and I insert a full mag the slide lock will not disengage when pulling back on slide and releasing.
